Our Ethos

We build the way furniture was meant to be built

Every commission begins with timber — properly seasoned oak, walnut, ash and cherry — and the slow, deliberate work of the bench. No flat-pack, no veneered chipboard, no quiet compromise. Just honest joinery that grows more beautiful with the decades.

  • Solid timber, always

We work in real, traceable hardwood — never veneer over board. What you see is what it is, all the way through.

  • Drawn before it's cut

Full measured drawings and timber samples before a single board is sawn — so you know exactly what you're commissioning.

  • Fitted by the maker

The hands that built your piece install it. One workshop, start to finish, accountable for every detail.

What We Make

Bespoke joinery, room
by room

Each piece is designed around your home and the way you live in it — proportioned, jointed and finished entirely in our workshop.

Bespoke Staircases

Sweeping curved flights, cut-string oak stairs and floating treads — engineered to feel as good underfoot as they look from the hall.

Fitted Furniture

Wardrobes, dressing rooms, window seats and alcove storage — built to the exact lines of your walls, with not a millimetre wasted.

Explore

Doors & Frames

Panelled internal doors, pivot entrances and traditional sash windows — hung true and finished to a depth of grain you can feel.

Kitchens & Libraries

In-frame timber kitchens and floor-to-ceiling libraries — cabinetry that reads as architecture, not as flat-pack carcasses.

01

Consultation

We visit, measure and listen. Over a coffee we learn how you live, what you love and the feeling the room should hold.

02

Design & Timber

Measured drawings, hardwood samples and a fixed quotation. Nothing is ordered until every detail is yours.

03

At the Bench

Your piece is cut, jointed, assembled and finished by hand in our workshop — photographed at each stage for you.

04

Installed

Delivered and fitted by the makers themselves, then left immaculate. A guarantee follows it home.

The Workshop

Sawdust, daylight and forty years of know-how

Our workshop sits in a converted granite barn, lit by north-facing roof lights and warmed by the offcuts we burn through winter. It's where nine joiners — some apprenticed here, some who've spent a lifetime at the bench — turn rough-sawn boards into things that outlive us.

Step inside and you'll smell the linseed before you see the work. Every commission passes through these doors, and every one leaves better than the brief.

Meet the Maker

"A good joint should still be tight long after I'm gone."

Daniel began as a fifteen-year-old apprentice sweeping shavings for his grandfather. Forty years on, he still cuts the first dovetail on every staircase Oakline makes — a quiet superstition that's never once let a client down.

He'll tell you that the secret isn't speed or clever machines, but reading the timber: knowing which board will move, which grain will catch the light, and when to put the tool down and simply look.

"Our staircase is the first thing every visitor remarks on. Oakline took a vague idea and turned it into something genuinely breathtaking — and a joy to walk every morning."

"We've commissioned three rooms from Daniel's team now. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, but it's the honesty that keeps us coming back. True makers."
